Five vaulted bays opening onto the sea
Built in the same period as the Red Tower, the shipyard with its five vaulted bays opening onto the sea is one of the most striking surviving examples of Seljuk seafaring.
The Seljuk Shipyard was built in the 1220s under Alaeddin Keykubad. Its five large vaulted bays open directly onto the sea; this is where ships of the Seljuk fleet were built and repaired.
A small mosque and a guard room stand next to the shipyard. You can reach it by walking along the sea walls from the Red Tower, or see it from the water on a boat tour.
Seen from inside, the turquoise sea framed by the arches makes one of the most photogenic scenes in Alanya.
